UK High Commissioner calls on Senator Ishaq Dar




ISLAMABA D 13 MARCH

    British High Commissioner Mr.Adam Thomson along with Mr.Jasper Thornton, Political Secretary of the British High Commission in Islamabad called on the PML-N eader senator Ishaq Dar in Punjab house here on Tuesday.

Both sides discussed the issues of bilateral relationship and the mutual cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom and economic situation of Pakistan. Mr.Adam Thomson on the occasion congratulated senator Ishaq Dar on his unopposed election as a technocrat member in the senate of Pakistan.

Talking to the delegation, senator Ishaq Dar viewed that improving financial discipline, ensuring structural reforms and overcoming leakages in the tax collection would ensure increase in the tax to GDP ratio and will reduce fiscal deficit.

The PML-N leader also recognized the immediate need to bring structural changes to improve the performance of public sector enterprises in order to save the current wasteful expenditure of billions of rupees on such PSES.

Senator Ishaq Dar maintained  the PML-N has always urged for structural reforms in order to remove macro-economic imbalances, currently faced by the country. However, a permanent solution to the country's energy crisis should be the top priority as without economic issues can't be resolved.

UK HC showed senator Dar of his country's fullest cooperation to Pakistan in economic and social sectors, particularly in the field of education.
The meeting was also attended by the PML-N Media Head Asim Khan.
