conferment of Sitara-i-Imtaiz upon Qavi Khan


Islamabad, 18 March 18, 2012: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved conferment of Sitara-i-Imtaiz upon renowned actor Mr. Muhammad Qavi Khan in recognition of his services in the field of performing arts.



Mohammad Qavi Khan is among the few artists who have earned great fame in all the fields of performing arts. Starting his career in 1952 from Radio  Pakistan and earning Life-Time Achievement Award, he was the first hero of TV drama when Pakistan Television was started in 1964. He has also been conferred Best Actor and Life Achievement Award by PTV. Besides Radio and Tv, Mr. Qavi Khan has been among the pioneers of theatre in Pakistan. He has also made significant contributions in the development of theatre and has served in Punjab Arts Council and in the governing body of Pakistan National Council of Arts. In 1980, the Government conferred upon him the award of Pride of Performance.



The Award of Sitara-i-Imtiaz has been conferred by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister.
