Opp sets out to block Nato supplies restoration

Opposition parties have vowed that they would block every move towards restoration of Nato supply.

The opposition parties had a meeting at Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s residence in Islamabad. The parties decided that the government would not be allowed to use the parliament as a cover to allow restoration of Nato supplies.

During the meeting, Maulana Fazl demanded implementation of the earlier resolutions passed by the parliament.

On the occasion, opposition leader in the National Assembly, Ch Nisar Ali Khan said that the point of view agreed on in the past had been trampled on by the government under one pretext or the other. He said parliament’s name is being used to restore Nato supplies, but the opposition would protect national interest at all costs.

All the leaders attending the meeting unanimously decided to block every move aimed at restoration of Nato supplies.

Others who attended the meeting included Mushahid-ullah, Jaffar Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed Sherpao and Salim Saifullah.

The agreed recommendations of the opposition would be presented before a joint meeting of the opposition parties to be chaired by Nawaz Sharif tomorrow (Sunday).

Later, Ch Nisar briefed the media about the minutes of the meeting in the company of other opposition leaders.
