Islamabad; June 1, 2012: The Parliamentary Committee on appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and Members of Election Commission met in Parliament House today with Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Chairman/Minister for Religious Affairs in the chair.
The committee considered the nominations forwarded by the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition to confirm any one of the nominees for appointment as Chief Election Commissioner.
The committee decided to continue its deliberations on the said nominations in its next meeting to be held on 5th June, 2012. The Committee unanimously called upon the Media, not to make any comment on the nominees under consideration before the Committee, in public interest.
The meeting was attended by Senators; Mr. Islam-ud-Din Sheikh, Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq, Haji Muhammad Adeel, Mr. Arif Aziz Sheikh, MNAs; Mr. Zahid Hamid, Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Mrs. Tehmina Daultana.
