British Foreign Secretary calls on PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif ISLAMABAD JUNE13.2012


The PML-N president Mr.Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has urged the British Government to deepen and strengthen its relations with Pakistan, especially in the economic and commercial spheres. The former Prime Minister made this remark during his meeting with British Foreign Secretary, Mr.William Hague, who called on him in Islamabad, on Wednesday 13, June 2012.

During the course of their warm and friendly exchanges, Mr.Nawaz Sharif referred to the long history of cordial and cooperative ties between the two countries, while highlighting Britain's support to Pakistan not bilaterally, but in the context of the European Union as well. The former Prime Minister and the British Foreign Secretary Mr.William Hague also had a comprehensive exchange on other issues of bilateral interest, as well as matters relating to the region.

Thanking to the former Prime Minister, Mr.William Hague recalled his earlier meetings with Nawaz Sharif, and their broad understanding on issues on common interests to the two countries.

While talking about the economic situation in Pakistan, Mr.Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the negative fall out on the national productivity because of the deepening energy crisis. He urged the  British government to take an active interest in promoting investment in the country's energy and power sectors.
