Chairman Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari has said that Pakistan has great respect and high regard for our brotherly country Morocco and we take Moroccan people at high esteem as we share religious and spiritual relations and bonding which can assist in further cementing our bilateral ties. He was expressing these views while in a meeting with Chief Justice of Morocco Mostafa Farees alongwith four member delegation at Parliament House here today.
The Chairman reiterated that we want to strengthen our relation with brotherly country Morocco via exchange of delegations at every level including Parliamentary delegations as they will enhance mutual understanding and generate unanimity of views on regional and international issues. People to people contacts will be more beneficial for both the countries and I hope in the future also the relation will be more cordial and friendly, he added.
He told the delegates about Pakistan’s political system, legislature and judiciary. Talking about political system he said that Pakistan’s political history has passed through different phases and by grace of God after long struggle of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who sacrificed her life for people of Pakistan and democracy, after 2008 election we have Parliamentary democratic system with bicameral legislature in place. For the first time in the history of the country Parliament has completed its 4th year and we are now in the 5th year. President Asif Ali Zardari has become first ever president who has addressed joint session of the Parliament 5th time consecutively.
The Chairman observed that there exist immense potential for cooperation in various sectors and we can learn from each others’ experience particularly regarding our experiences in legislature, judiciary and economic sectors in order to improve governance for better service delivery to the public.
Chief Justice of Morocco said “we Moroccans have deep love in our hearts for Pakistan and people of Pakistan. We cannot forget Pakistan’s support and assistance for liberating Morocco from imperial forces”. He told the Chairman about legislature and judicial system of Morocco and stressed the need for frequent bilateral exchanges. He told Chairman Senate that Chief Justice of Pakistan has been very kind enough to invite his counterparts from brotherly countries and we have shared our experiences in judicial system and its working and in near future we are going to sign MOUs for enhancing cooperation in judicial fields and this tradition should also be set in various sectors including legislature.
Earlier, he congratulated Bokhari for his unopposed election as Senate Chairman.
