CONTINUATION OF DEMOCRATIC PROCESS ESSENTIAL FOR COUNTRY: CHAIRMAN SENATE

Pakistan was created through a democratic process and struggle initiated by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and that the continuation of the democratic process is essential for this country. This was stated by the Chairman Senate, Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari. He was talking to media persons after laying wreath and offering Fateha at the mausoleum of the Founder of Pakistan on Thursday in Karachi.

Some of the Senators of Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim league-Functional were also present on the occasion. He said it is a matter of great honour for him to visit the mausoleum of the Father of the Nations. Nayyer Bukhari was of the view that the political leadership has a role to play in tackling the issues like terrorism and law and order and for the resolution of some of the issues they have to be above the party level.
He said progress and stability of the country depends on the democratic process as well as on strengthening the democratic institutions. Chairman Senate said if they follow the parameters that were given by the Quaid-i-Azam during the Pakistan Movement and after the independence, the country will make headway and will be strengthened. Replying a question, he said in the rules of business and procedures for the conduct of Senate's business that have been framed, it is determined that in two months' time the Senate committees would be constituted and in the following month the election of the committees' chairmen would be conducted.
