Goodwill Ambassador for Women Empowerment, Fiza Batool Gilani, announced the revised wedlock policy today in Islamabad under which federal government employees and their spouses have been enabled to remain posted at one station for an indefinite period.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan has already given the formal approval of revised version of the wedlock policy. It is hereby pointed out that according to the previous wedlock policy the period of posting at one station had been specified and one of the spouses had to go back to his/her original place of posting.
“The amendment in the wedlock policy has been brought in to save families from economic and social difficulties and it is the fulfillment of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision”, said Fiza Batool Gilani while addressing to the participants of the ceremony held in connection with the announcement of revised wedlock policy.
The Goodwill Ambassador said that policies are formulated for the benefit of the people and sometimes it becomes inevitable to bring about changes in those policies according to the changing times and wishes of people. The Goodwill Ambassador said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has never shirked from its responsibility to serve the masses. The revision of wedlock policy is practical manifestation of PPP’s commitment to the public interest.
The Goodwill Ambassador also requested the provinces to bring in line their respective wedlock policies with the federal government’s revised version of the policy to save families from divisions and economic and social travails.-/PR
