President approves appointment of Judges in Accountability Courts of Lahore & Peshawar‏




Islamabad, 12 July 2012;



President Asif Ali Zardari today on the advice of the Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Mr. Javed Akhtar, Addl. District & Session Judge, Sahiwal (promoted as D&SJ) as Judge Accountability Court-I Lahore on deputation basis in his own pay and scale till the date of his superannuation i.e. 14th April 2013, or until further order whichever is earlier from the date he assumes the charge of the post.



According to the Summary received by the Presidency through Prime Minister’s office, initiated by the Ministry of Law & Justice, the post of Judge, Accountability Court-I, Lahore will fall vacant after the repatriation of the incumbent Judge as desired by the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court. It said that in terms of relevant rules, a Judge of Accountability Court is to be appointed by the President of Pakistan, in consultation with the Chief Justice of the High Court concerned and shall hold office for a period of three years.



Ministry of Law & Justice considered a panel of three judicial officers sent to them by the Lahore High Court and recommended to the Prime Minister to advise the President for approving appointment of Mr. Javed Akhtar as Judge Accountability Court-I Lahore.



The President today also accorded his approval for the appointment of Malik  Azhar-ul-Haq, District & Session Judge as Judge Accountability Court-IV Lahore as the post is lying vacant due to superannuation of Mian Muhammad Shafi on 19 April, 2012.



The President has also approved appointment of Mrs. Zarqaish Sani, D&SJ, as Judge Accountability Court-II, Peshawar.



The post of Judge Accountability Court-II, Peshawar has fallen vacant due to repatriation of Mr. Kauser Abbas Zaidi, D&SJ/ Judge Accountability Court-II, Peshawar, to his parent department i.e. Peshawar High Court on 20-01-2012.



The Ministry of Law & Justice considered a panel of three judicial officers sent to them by the Peshawar High Court and recommended to the Prime Minister to advise the President for approving the said appointment.
