NATIONAL ASSEMBLY decid to launch an operation against the illegal occupants residing in the lobbies of the Parliament Lodges in next week


Islamabad; July 10, 2012: National Assembly House and Library Committee met under the Chairmanship of Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi in the Parliament House today to discuss the progress report regarding the vacation of lobbies, side rooms and servant quarters in the Parliament Lodges presently illegally occupied and latest position of National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS). 
            The Members of the committee were of the view that illegal occupants in the lobbies and side rooms of the Parliament Lodges as a permanent security threat besides disturbing the privacy of the families residing in the Parliament Lodges. The committee decided to launch an operation against the illegal occupants residing in the lobbies of the Parliament Lodges in next week and also directed to CDA to issue notice to illegal occupants for vacation of the lobbies. While discussing the occupants residing in the servant quarters of Parliament Lodges the committee directed CDA to collect the particulars of the occupants residing in the servant quarters. Earlier the Director, Parliament Lodges informed the committee that on the direction of the House & Library Committee a detailed survey was conducted by the CDA and ICT Police about the illegal occupants and prepared a list of occupants of servant quarters, however, 9 servant quarters out 121 were still found locked. It was also informed that proformas have also been circulated amongst all the parliamentarians residing in the Parliament Lodges for giving the details of their staff/servants to authorize for entry/residence in the Parliament Lodges. He informed that only 48 profromas duly filled have been received so far. The Deputy Speaker directed the CDA to make efforts and pursue actively for collecting the requisite information from the parliamentarians. 
While discussing the matter pertaining to National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS) Additional Commissioner, ICT informed the committee that negotiations were in final stages with an adjacent Housing Society for provision of plots to employees of National Assembly. He expressed the hope that the agreement with the adjacent society will be finalized soon. The Deputy Speaker directed the ICT Administration to expedite the process of the agreement with the adjacent society so that the plots could be allotted to the National Assembly employees those whom hard earned saving were stuck up with NAECHS for more than two decades.    
The members who attended the meeting were MNAs Mr. Noor Alam Khan and Mrs. Shagufta Sadiq.
