Iranian Ambassador calls on Prime Minister





Islamabad: August 8, 2012

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistan’s relations with Iran are deeply rooted in historical, cultural and religious commonalities.

The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Mr. Alireza Haghinghian, Ambassador of Iran, who called on him at the PM House today.

The Prime Minister underlined the need of taking effective steps to reach the target of $10 billion that we have set for our bilateral trade within the stipulated timeframe.

He said that both countries should also ensure expeditious implementation of our bilateral projects, including Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline and various electricity projects.

The Prime Minister congratulated Iran for taking over the Chairmanship of Non-Aligned Movement.

He said that Pakistan looked forward to working closely withIran for a positive outcome of summit to uphold principles of the Movement.

The Iranian Ambassador stated that the bilateral relations thatPakistan and Iran enjoy very good bilateral relations and the recent exchange of high level visits will further boost these ties at the economic, political level.
