Entire power chain from generation to distribution must be streamlined: Govt of Pakistan

Federal Minister for Water and Power Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at Prime Minister’s house this afternoon and briefed him about the measures being taken by his Ministry to improve the power situation in the country.

Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar informed the Prime Minister that every possible effort was being made to ensure that the generation capacity in the country is utilized optimally so that the difference between demand and supply of electricity is reduced to the minimum.

The Prime Minister directed the Minister to prioritize contribution of hydel power projects so that the growing water and electricity needs of the country could be addressed.

The Prime Minister also said that equal emphasis should also be laid on the distribution system to reduce line loses and theft of electricity.

The Prime Minister said that the entire power chain from generation to distribution must be upgraded and streamlined so that the common man feels the difference of the measures taken by the government to minimize load shedding in the country.
