Profile – Justice (Rtd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso


Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, the third among eleven siblings, of Mir. Azam Khan Khoso, a prominent landlord/agriculturist of Goth Azam Khan Khosa, Jafferabad, was born on September 30, 1929.
Mir Hazar Khan Khoso got his early education from Jacobabad and Shikarpur. He graduated from the University of Sindh in 1954 and earned his LLB degree from Karachi University in the year 1956.

Justice (R) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso was enrolled as Advocate of High Court of West Pakistan (Karachi Bench) in 1959. He remained Public Prosecutor for eleven years from 1966 to 1977 and was appointed as Additional Judge of Balochistan High Court on 20th June 1977. He was elevated to the position of Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court on 13th December 1989, the position he held till 29thSeptember 1991. He also served as member of the Election Commission of Pakistan in 1985.

Justice Khoso was appointed as the judge of the Federal Shariat Court in 1991 and was elevated to the position of Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court on 17th November 1994. He held this office until 18th July 1994. He was subsequently appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court from where he retired in 1996.

Justice (Rtd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso was nominated as caretaker Prime Minister on March 24th, 2013 and was sworn in on 25th of March 2013
Before assuming the office of Prime Minister of Pakistan, he served as Chairman Zakat Council Balichistan since 2008

Justice (Rtd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso had an illustrious career spanning over five decades. He has a vast experience in administrative and judicial matters and enjoys an impeccable reputation among his peers. During his career he attended numerous international seminars and conferences. He is well versed in English, Urdu, Seraiki, Sindhi and Balochi languages.

The wife of Justice (Rtd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso passed away in 2012. He has three sons and two daughters who are happily married
