IFRD demands of UN, OIC, int’l & regional organizations to use influence for resolving Muslim Ummah’s issues

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): The International Federation for Relief and Development (IFRD), the alliance of the 10 Muslim welfare organizations of the different countries, have expressed concern over the internal-war in Myanmar, Gaza, Syria, Somalia, Asaam (India), Eretria, Mindanao (Philippine), Kashmir, Afghanistan and the deteriorated situation in FATA and demanded of the UN, OIC and other international and regional organizations to use their influence for resolving these issues.

The two days meeting of the IFRD ended here on Monday, while addressing a press conference, President of the Federation Haji Hussain Ismail issued declaration consisting of 11 pages.

On this occasion, vice-president of the federation and former member of the Turkish parliament, Mustafa Koylo announced to stage protest demonstrations in Ankara and Istanbul against the governments of the Bangladesh and Myanmar for creating hurdles in the way of rehabilitation of the families in Myanmar.

He said that demonstrations would be staged in front of the embassies of these countries.

According to the Islamabad declaration of the IFRD, the objective of this platform of the Muslim welfare organizations of the different countries is to bring a positive change for the Muslim Ummah without any discrimination and to work together in calamities over the world.

The IFRD said that Islam teaches that the Muslim Ummah should work for promoting peace, prosperity, compassion, tolerance, equality, justice and human dignity.

According to the declaration, it is our duty to serve the distressed humanity and we are bound to that.

The IFRD further said that this service has become a duty of paramount importance in this era as humanity is suffering through a big crisis, more than 1.4 billion people are living below the extreme poverty line, it means that every 6th person in the world is too poor to get a meal a day. One child dies every three seconds due to hunger and another child dies in the same period because he is unable to get treatment for simple ailment. One billion people are unable to get clean drinking water.

It was said in the Islamabad declaration that millions of people are living in the refugee and IDPs camps and unfortunately more than a quarter of these are Muslims.

It was said in the declaration that IFRD a platform of Muslim NGOs resolves to make every effort to provide relief to the people irrespective of their color, creed and religion.

It was further said in the declaration that IFRD feel bound to act in all humanitarian crises, short and long term projects will be launched from IFRD platform and all member countries will work closely to make these projects successful and effective.

To a question, President of Alkhitmat Foundation Dr. Hafiz Ur Rehman said that unfortunately there is less number of Muslim welfare organizations’, adding that at present no Muslim organization in included in top 100 non-government organizations of the world.
