PML-N PRESIDENT’S MEETING WITH THE VISITING CHINESE PREMIER IN ISLAMABAD


Thursday, 23rd May, 2013. He described China as Pakistan’s time-tested friend that had stood by us during difficult periods in our history. He added that a strong, stable and prosperous China was an important factor in the maintenance of peace and stability in the region. Mr. Nawaz Sharif recalled that during his earlier tenures, the two countries had cooperated in many important spheres and it would be his endeavor to encourage China to assume a greater role in the revival of the economy, with special reference to easing the crippling energy shortage.

The visiting Chinese Premier, while offering his congratulations  and good wishes to  Mr. Nawaz Sharif on his Party’s outstanding success in the just concluded general elections, reiterated that the Chinese people  had deep respect for the former Prime Minister.   He said that China viewed Mr. Nawaz Sharif as a sincere and committed friend, whose contribution to expanding cooperation between the two countries was highly appreciated. The Chinese Premier also gave an assurance that given the special relations existing between the two countries, it would be his Government’s endeavor to expand its cooperation with Pakistan in all sectors, especially those that needed urgent attention.

Apart from a comprehensive review of bilateral issues, the two sides were also able to touch on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.  This revealed great similarity between their views, which led torenewed affirmation of their resolve to further enhance their cooperation.

The Chinese Premier also conveyed an invitation to Mian Sahab to pay an early visit to China, to discuss further how to give shape to the many ideas that had been exchanged in today’s meeting. While conveying his thanks and deep appreciation for the gracious invitation, Mian Sahab confirmed that he looked forward to an early opportunity of exchanging views with the Chinese leadership, as this would be of mutualbenefit to both. Dates for the visit would be finalized through diplomatic channels.

The PML(N) President was accompanied by Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, Mr. Nisar Ali Khan, Mr. Ishaq Dar and Mr. Tariq Fatemi, while the Chinese Premier was assisted by Foreign Minister Wang Yi  and other senior officials.//-

PM APPROVES RS. 90 MILLION FOR VERIFICATION OF THUMB IMPRESSION





Islamabad: May 21, 2013

Prime Minister Justice (R) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has approved an amount of Rs. 90 million to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for the purchase of software and hardware for verification of thumb impressions.
The Prime Minister has further directed NADRA to ensure its procurement and operationalise the facility within the next ten days.
It would be pertinent to mention here that NADRA duly supported by the Election Commission of Pakistan had approached the Prime Minister Secretariat for purchase of software and hardware for verification of thumb impressions.
In order to expedite the installation of the state of the art facility to verify the thumb impressions, the Prime Minister has also permitted NADRA to process the software and necessary equipment though negotiated purchase under Rule 42 (d)(ii) of Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) Rules. This would allow NADRA to negociate with the manufacturers directly and save time and money.
The decision reflects the commitment of the Caretaker Government and the departments working under it to take all possible measures to ensure sanctity of vote and transparency in elections by establishing forensic capabilities to assist dispute resolution, if any.

ISLAMABAD,  May 17,  2013: US Ambassador  Richard Olson met with Maulana Fazalur Rahman, Chief of JUI-F, and congratulated  him on JUI-F's  success in national and provincial assembly elections.

A statement issued by the Spokesperson of Maulana Fazalur Rahman said that  the Ambassador  underscored the United States’ commitment to a strong bilateral relationship with Pakistan based on respect and mutual interest.
 He said that the US supported a more stable, secure, and prosperous future for the people of Pakistan.


Maulana Fazalur Rahman on his part said that Pakistan is an important ally of the United states and can play significant role to peace and stability in the region as such its concerns regarding respecting its sovereignty should be addressed. He said that Pakistan has supported political reconciliation  in Afghanistan as  peace and stability  will  directly contribute to peace and stability in Pakistan.
